On the pressure that is associated with the job, Rodgers said:

“The pressure is huge but I embrace that challenge. I respect that we need to get results. One win and we’re back around top 4.”

“I’m never complacent enough to think my job has never been (in danger). At a club of this stature, you always need to be at your best.”

“Experiences make you better as a manager. To manage the focus and scrutiny here has been fantastic. I’ve loved every minute of it.”

“I want to be here for a long period. I’ll prepare my team to prepare exciting dynamic football.”

On the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp being linked with the club, Rodgers said:

“In terms of names linked, when manager of club this size there is always going to be speculation, especially when you’re not winning.”

“I have regular contact with owners & that relationship strong. No matter how much longer I’m here, I’ll have huge respect for them.”

Rodgers also spoke about how the squad is looking ahead of the Villa game. He said:

“The squad are very stable and focused. They know it’s very early, they’re looking to create some kind of momentum.”

The manager also confirmed that Daniel Sturridge will be back in the squad to face Villa. Roberto Firmino, Christian Benteke and Dejan Lovren are all unfit for Saturday’s game. The Liverpool boss also refused to give a timeline as to when Christian Benteke could return to action. Roberto Firmino has cracked a bone in his back and could face a lengthy time out, confirmed Rodgers.
